Full Job Description

This is a substantive full time (10PA) post, working exclusively within the Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust. This post will be a cross county appointment with activities on both sites. We are looking for an experienced Gynaecological Oncologist to join our expanding team, who will provide high quality specialist oncological care for our patients. Main duties and Purpose Subspecialty accredited Gynaecological Oncologist with a special interest in vulval disease and vulval cancer, and be competent in the use of sentinel node localisation and excision for the treatment of vulval cancer The provision of high-quality specialist Gynaecological oncology services in all clinical settings including, theatres, outpatient clinics, colposcopy, Ward round and On-call duties (1/12) To support the clinical decision making of junior medical and nursing staff, by way of appropriate teaching and supervision including medical students To ensure the delivery of a high-quality patient-centred clinical service To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in that same task To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate To work in accordance with our trust's procedures and operating policies to support the business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Women and Children Division and our TrustMain duties of the job Integral to the responsibilities of this post are the following objectives: 4 to ensure the delivery of a high-quality patient-centred clinical service 4 to provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in that same task 4 to sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate 4 to work in accordance with our trust's procedures and operating policies 4 to support the business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Women and Children Division and our Trust 4 to work within the framework of team decisions 4 to take a whole systems approach to working with the wider health community both NHS and social services 4 to show initiative, enthusiasm and flexibilityClinical responsibilities The appointee will be expected to share responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care to the patients presenting to the Department. The provision of high-quality care in all clinical settings, including theatres, outpatient clinics, wards, and working well as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • To support the clinical decision making of junior medical and nursing staff
  • To provide on call support out of hours. To attend the Department out of hours as per agreed protocols
