Full Job Description

The main duties of the postwill include;

GeneralGynaecology Clinics -

Regular Gynaecology day case and inpatient operating listswill ensure staff maintain their emergency gynaecology skills

Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space andsecretarial support is provided

DCC is allocated for MDTs which areannualised

Hot week cover for acute Gynaecology 08 : 00 18 : 00 hrs,Monday to Friday ( pas) During Hotweek this includes undertaking ward rounds.

Consultant pre and post-op wardrounds are allocated in the DCC for theatre sessions which are annualised

On-call duties for Gynaecology only shared with 14colleagues on an approximately 1 in 8 basis (17 : 30 hours until 08 : 00 hoursduring weekdays off site cover and 08 : 00 to hours during weekends on sitecover) typically non-patient-facing duties on a post-call day.

On call (non resident) is paid at Band A.

Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with theTrust Framework, with at least aminimum of SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable.

Additional SPA or DCCtime may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidateand changing requirements of the service., This post is offered on a fulltime (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will beconsidered.

Duties will be based primarilyon our Pinderfields site although all our medical staff are involved indelivering care to patients on all our three sites.

Office and secretarial support will also beprovided.

MYTT has a wellestablished service for management of complex gynaecological surgery. We arethe biggest BSGE regional centre for endometriosis in Yorkshire.

We offertertiary level sub-spec urogynaecolgy surgery service. We work in collaborationwith Leeds Teaching Hospitals for gynaecology cancer cases.

  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.

  • Experience of audit

  • Ability & willingness to work within the Trust & NHS performance framework & targets

  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school

  • MRCOG or equivalent

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise

  • Experience

    Essential
  • ATSM : Benign abdominal surgery : open and laparoscopic, or equivalent

  • Fully accredited BSCCP Colposcopist (Essential)

  • On current BSCCP register as accredited Colposcopist. (essential)

  • Fully accredited by college and acceptable to college representative.

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of an Gynaecology Service

  • Appropriate experience in Gynaecology

  • To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Service.

  • Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students

  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.

  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).


  • Desirable
  • ATSM : Advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of benign disease

  • ATSM : Benign gynaecological surgery : hysteroscopy or equivalent

  • Management experience

  • Experience in delivering medical education

  • Financial planning and service development

  • Colposcopy trainer(desirable)

  • Experience in Management of VIN & VAIN

  • Experience in Colposcopy management as Deputy Lead, Charing MDT, Management meetings

  • Keen interest in Audits in Colposcopy

    Wehave state of the art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and are building anew surgical hub including gynaecology at Dewsbury Hospital.


  • Within thegynaecology services, we have a dedicated Gynaecology assessment unit on thePinderfields site and offer a wide range of comprehensive to our patientsincluding :
  • ABSGE Regional Endometriosis centre

  • DedicatedGynaecology assessment unit in Pinderfields

  • Outpatientclinics for Menopause, Colposcopy, Uro-gynaecology, Endometriosis,Hysteroscopy, Minor procedures and Post-menopause Bleeding.

  • Gynaecologyoncology unit, working with Leeds Teaching Hospital Oncology teams.

  • Electivesurgery at Pinderfields and Dewsbury Hospitals with access to Da Vinci Robotson both sites.

  • ElectiveObstetric suites in Pinderfields Hospital.
