Full Job Description

An opportunity is available for a professional and experienced Consultant Gynaecologist to join a supportive Project Team working solely on an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Review being completed at UHDB. With expert gynaecology knowledge and advice, the post-holder will be central to providing a reassuring environment where women can discuss their individual cases, through patient interviews and in high-quality written correspondence. You will have contact with fellow Gynaecologists and will have defined support from a senior Clinician and Project Lead. As well as providing a safe environment whereby women can discuss their individual cases, you will provide high quality correspondence to women post interview alongside their expressed experiences. You will have shared responsibility for the governance, clinical quality, and resource management of the service, providing leadership and medical management to the Team. Gynaecology services are provided at the Trust's Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton sites. This role will be based exclusively at Royal Derby Hospital with no cross site working. The successful applicant will link in with other agencies supporting the review. Review of paper and electronic notes for patients involved in the Gynaecology Review. Writing letters to patients involved in the Review, explaining the outcome of the External or Internal Review of their personal care, and offering a personal interview. 2. Interviewing patients.The aim of these interviews is to explain the outcome of the Review of their treatment, to hear the patient's reflections on their treatment, to apologise where appropriate, to offer clinical advice and arrange any appropriate follow up if required. Write follow-up letter to patients detailing their interview, arranging follow up by clinicians (Consultant, GP, radiology, physiotherapy etc.) where appropriate. 3. Presenting findings to relevant groups, including the patient's clinical details, the outcome of the External Review and any additional information from their personal interviews. Liaising with author(s) of reports relevant to the review findings. 4. Recognition and dissemination of themes related to specifics from the note review/ interviews. Liaison with Risk and Clinical Audit to support implementation of the actions required to support the review findings. 5. Highlighting learning points from the review to the Divisional Team to enact.
