Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at MFT. This post will be primarily based at the Oxford Road Campus but in the future there may be an expectation to support work cross sites as services are being harmonised. This 10 PA post will join the histopathology reporting team with a predominant contribution to the skin pathology sub-specialist service with also contribution to Head and Neck and Medical Renal Pathology sub-specialist services. Contribution to each subspeciality will be discussed with the successful appointee based on expertise and service requirements Main duties of the job MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES You will join a team of 22 other full and part time Consultants in the Adult Histopathology Department at ORC who provide a reporting service for a variety of specialities including Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Dermatopathology, Head and Neck, Ophthalmic and Urology. The main responsibilities of this post would be : Together with other Consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing subspecialised histopathology for its clinical users (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local General Practices). This may include review of slides of patients who are referred in to MFT for further investigation or treatment from other hospitals. The appointee will have the opportunity to participate in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with their areas of subspecialisation which may involve travel to other sites. Participate in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training. The Trust is committed to teaching Specialty Trainees in Histopathology under the aegis of HENW (Health Education North West). The appointee will also be expected to teach histopathology to other allied health professionals.   • MB ChB or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT. FRCPath or equivalent Desirable MD, PhD or other higher degree Teaching and Audit Essential
