Consultant in Medical Psychotherapy

The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy to join the Hammersmith and Fulham Psychotherapy service. The vacancy has arisen as the result of a partial retirement which has coincided with the NHS Long Term Plan initiatives to improve integration between Primary and Secondary Care with the development of MINT services. This is affording the opportunity for a realignment of the department skill mix and the creation of new Band 8b posts which will support the further collaboration between Psychotherapy and Psychiatry services within the borough., The majority of the work is community based. The post holder is the clinical lead for the service. S/he will provide direct clinical care with the assessment and treatment of people with complex mental health needs. The post holder will carry a small case load and will provide supervision for team members, honorary staff and medical trainees attached to the department. The post holder will provide consultations as requested to the wider service within local services.

Indirect clinical care will include supporting the clinical decision making within MINT through the Complex Case meetings and oversight of the Network Meetings which include psychotherapy representation. The post holder will also be responsible for the provision of supervision of reflective practice groups offered to clinical teams.
