Full Job Description
To provide consultant cover and overnight on-call (1:10 weekdays & weekends) for the Neonatal Service, To provide supervision to the Neonatal Unit, postnatal wards and Transitional Care in Hull Women's and Children's Hospital. To contribute to the tertiary neonatal unit advice service to Level 1 and 2 services in the Humber & North Yorkshire units through the Embrace referral and transport service.
To support trainees in induction, teaching and training and to act as clinical and educational supervisor. To provide outpatient clinics by telephone/ video and face to face for GP referrals under the age of 1 year and for neonatal patients after discharge To work with the Neonatal team for quality improvement, service development and national strategies for neonatal critical care., A standard full time Job Plan will contain 10 programmed activities (PAs) comprising 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 2.5 for supporting activities (SPAs). LTFT applications are also encouraged.This will comprise of a rolling cycle of 10 weeks as part of a 1 in 10 on-call rota. The timetable will include 2 hot weeks of 1 full week of intensive care, 1 week of special care and transitional care cover (can be split over 2 week period depending on candidate preference) and 7 additional weeks of clinic work/additional ward cover/teaching/ educational supervision based on 3-4 days where the majority of SPA time can also be taken.
1.5 SPAs are classed as 'core' and cover time for training, teaching, CPD, audit, appraisal, clinical governance and attendance at service meetings. There are opportunities to participate in undergraduate teaching within the HYMS medical school curriculum. Additional SPA time can be allocated for research, clinical management and educational supervisor (ES) activity. It is envisaged that this post would include the educational supervision of at least one trainee per year.
