This is an exciting opportunity to join a large and innovative team within County Durham and Darlington, with 4000+ deliveries across the Trust per year.

We are looking to recruit to a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a specialist interest in Fetal medicine, at ATSM level or equivalent.

The post holder will participate in the Tier 3 non-resident obstetrics and gynaecology cover at UHND, currently 1 in 12. Non-emergency work will include regular fetal medicine scanning sessions, antenatal clinics, elective caesarean sections, gynaecology clinics and theatre sessions (depending on skill set and interests).

You must be fully registered with a GMC licence to practise and be on the specialist register (or within 6 months of entry) on the date of the interview. If you wish to work part time you will still be considered for the post with an adjusted Job Plan to be developed.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the above clinical duties, there will be an opportunity for development in terms of simulation training and leadership opportunities. There will also be an expectation to work with our neighbouring tertiary sites and participate in regional networks.

Within the County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust there are Clinical Care Groups and Obstetrics and Gynaecology sits within the Family Health Care Group.

The Department provides an acute service across both Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH) and University Hospital North Durham (UHND), as well as outpatient services at Bishop Auckland Hospital (BAH), Shotley Bridge (SBH) and Chester le Street (CLS). Day case surgical procedures are also performed at BAH.

If you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the manager

You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks
