Full Job Description

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team. Newcastle is proud to be a leading clinical and academic centre for ageing and geriatrics. We have a strong focus on innovation, research and driving quality of care for older people. As such, we are looking for dynamic geriatricians who are passionate about innovation and will work well within a progressive team of 16 Geriatricians. While the Department of Older People's Medicine has a strong emphasis on managing frailty across our wards, clinics, day units and community services, we are also implementing a new frailty-based strategy which includes a focus on community and 'front door' frailty, admission avoidance and comprehensive geriatric assessment out of hospital. We would envisage that the post holder will play a key role in shaping new ways of working, by taking a key role in front of house frailty service developments, or by supporting other
aspects of departmental sub-specialty service delivery and development., The delivery of clinical services within Older People's Medicine in-patient, day unit, out-patient and community-based services. Additional sessions to support a sub-speciality interest, and teaching and research opportunities are likely to be available, appropriately job planned., This post will be based between Freeman Hospital and the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The post holder will be responsible for inpatient, day unit, out-patient and community-based care of older people including acute and rehabilitation patients, with sub-speciality responsibilities according to experience, interest and Trust requirements. The post holder will also contribute to the non-resident Older People's Medicine on-call rota.
