Full Job Description

We are looking for a motivated, experienced Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV to join our team in County Durham. Based at Bishop Auckland Hospital, you will work alonside other Medical, Nursing and Administrative staff., Delivery of high quality, comprehensive sexual health services which will include HIV outpatient treatment and care, adopting up to date national guidelines.

Provide leadership at BAH and act as a source of advice both within and outside the Trust.

Provide supervision, teaching and training to clinical staff, students and external partners.

Develop good working relationships with other disciplines eg microbiology and public health.

Engage with appraisal, job planning and revalidation processes.

Engage with local and regional MDT arrangements.

Participate in local, regional and national audits.

Keep comprehensive electronic patient records.

Engage with and fulfil clinical governance requirements.

Provide data for local and national recording requirements.

Work with commissioners, care group managers, service users and other stakeholders (eg pharmacies) to develop and improve the service.

Engage in the commissioning process, as appropriate.

Engage in research studies where appropriate. (National Institute of Health Research Portfolio studies).

Contribute to the management team of the service.

Flexible working in line with the needs of the service.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
