Applicants are invited for one Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist to join our friendly and forward-thinking team of MSK Radiologists with a wide range of skills and interests and contribute to the activity of our busy department. This is a new post, and there will be an opportunity for you to develop a subspecialty area or areas of interest. You will be able to progress your career at one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country, with opportunities to participate in research, education and radiological innovation. The 10 PA posts cover all aspects of diagnostic and interventional MSK radiology. UHS is a centre of excellence for teaching and research in association with the University of Southampton, offering opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and, with partners including the Medical Research Council and Welcome Trust, providing excellent facilities for research and clinical care. UHS is a national leader in research into cancer, respiratory disease, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, bone and joint conditions, and complex immune system problems., WHAT YOULL DO : The appointed Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist will : Contribute to the high-quality consultant-led diagnostic MSK imaging service provided at UHS Be part of the in hours duty rota for IP and trauma scans. Provide a 3-hour Saturday session form home (intended to be 1 in 5) for IP and urgent scans. Develop specialist skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support regional tertiary services. Along with their consultant colleagues, provide clinical supervision of radiology trainees Some duties may be provided by off-site working To understand the day-to-day responsibilities in more detail please read the full job description document attached.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR An enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join our group! Required training, experience and abilities include : Full GMC Registration CCT in Radiology Completed general training in Radiology and MSK Fellowship at specialist level in a recognised centre. Experience and skills in a subspecialist area of MSK Radiology and / or willingness to develop these aspects further. Ability to work within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and to supervise junior staff Enthusiasm for teaching and training Understanding of and willingness to participate in clinical governance and audit activities An appropriate level of leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal abilities to be effective in the role of consultant diagnostic neuroradiologist in a large teaching hospital ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Individuals wishing to apply must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).,

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • CCT Radiology
  • Desirable

  • Higher degree (MSc, PhD)
  • Previous or relevant experience Essential
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Completed general training in Radiology with 1-2 years of experience in MSK Radiology. Interest in gaining subspecialist skills in MSK Radiology
  • Evidence of subspecialist MSK training. MSK Fellowship at specialist level in a recognised centre
  • Desirable Experience using advanced post-processing or reporting imaging tools in clinical or research practice Aptitudes and skills Essential
