Full Job Description

You will work as an independent Consultant Nurse employing a high degree of autonomy, to deliver a comprehensive service to patients with hydrocephalus and disorders of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) dynamics, with a particular focus on the management of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).

Following the establishment of a multidisciplinary service for the management of normal pressure hydrocephalus, the postholder will form part of a team consisting of neurosurgeons, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, infusion technicians and a service co-ordinator.

The post is structured around the four core functions of Consultant Practice as set out in the multi-professional consultant-level practice capability and impact framework, which include: (i) Expert practice, (ii)

Strategic and enabling leadership, (iii) Learning, developing, and improving across the system, and (iv) Innovation and research.

As part of their role, youwill provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues, provide education and training to other staff and students, ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence within the hydrocephalus service, and undertake practice innovation and research within their specialist area., Manage and lead a specialist service with responsibility for ensuring high quality, cost-effective healthcare or Manage and lead a workforce of specialist nurses (i.e. across a Di-vision)

Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis im-plementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist

Be involved in the strategic review of clinical services as appropriate

Be responsible for implementing a clearly defined inte-grated approach to patient care encompassing new treat-ments and evidence based care
