Full Job Description
You will join the current medical staff in obstetrics and gynaecology and will contribute to the obstetric rota based at the Whittington Hospital.
You will be expected to deliver clinical excellence and demonstrate a strong commitment to multi-professional working. A willingness to learn and work within a constantly changing environment is necessary together with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Candidates should possess leadership skills to drive improvement and share learning.
You will need to demonstrate how your skill mix will help the department thrive and develop.

Interview date: 11 December 2024., Please see the full Job Description and the Person Specification for further details about the job role., We are looking for a candidate who can integrate well into the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
The candidate will be expected to run maternal medicine, antenatal diabetes and general antenatal clinics and have a strong interest in Obstetrics and postnatal care.
It is expected that the candidate will operate as part of the existing team, attend MDT meetings and contribute to the management of complex obstetric patients as well as provide leadership for postnatal care.
Currently there is a maternal medicine service run by consultant obstetricians, Mr Harry Gibson and Miss Charlotte Depoers, with Dr Yasmin Jamil, consultant obstetric physician and Dr Zara Sayar, consultant haematologist.
There are well-established links with other hospital specialists as required, and clear pathways to tertiary specialist care through the North Central London Maternal Medicine Network. The service is delivered via a weekly maternal medicine clinic (haematology 1x/month, obstetric physician 3x/month, approximately 180 new patients/year) and a weekly diabetes clinic (400-450 new patients/year), in addition to inpatient referrals.
The team is able to offer pregnancy care for category A and B conditions as well as tertiary level care in category C haemoglobinopathy conditions. There is a weekly MDT meeting of neonatologists, anaesthetists, midwives and obstetricians where complex cases are discussed, and a monthly MDT with the regional network.
The specialist pregnancy diabetic service includes a weekly multidisciplinary antenatal clinic staffed by Dr Michaela Rossi, consultant endocrinologist, Miss Charlotte Depoers, Mr Harry Gibson and Miss Elly Tsoi, consultant obstetricians.
Pre-pregnancy counselling is provided for women with pre-existing diabetes or other medical conditions (such as sickle cell disease) which could be adversely impact the mother's health during pregnancy.
These services are supported by four specialist midwives, nurse specialists and dieticians.
The candidate will also be expected to participate in the labour ward rota as well as the on-call rota. The on call rota is currently on split 1:8 weekends and 1:16 for weekdays. The Consultant is not on duty for the labour ward whilst covering other services or clinics or doing private practice.
The appointee will also be expected to participate in undergraduate teaching.
