Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant Ophthalmologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust with expertise in Cornea. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team of 25 Ophthalmic Consultants at Queen's Medical Centre working together to make a difference to Ophthalmology services within Nottingham and beyond., Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to complement the current Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery service provision. The preferred candidate would have a higher academic qualification to support the retina team with academic input and additional programmed activity allocated accordingly.
The successful candidate would also be expected to contribute to, acute ophthalmology, general ophthalmology and would have on-call commitments.
As part of our commitment to provide the best care to our patients, we are extending our Ophthalmology service to include some consultant led evening and weekend work. This will be mutually agreed as part of the job plan and the number of PAs adjusted accordingly.
The department has a heavy teaching and training commitment towards medical students, specialist trainees, nurses and other visiting doctors. The appointee will be expected to contribute to this educational activity from time to time.
