Full Job Description

We wish to appoint a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Paediatric care. This clinical post is primarily based at King's College Hospital's Denmark Hill site, though there is potential to support any of King's sites as appropriate. There may also be the requirement to support ROP screening at the University Hospital Lewisham to cover leave. The individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff (medical and non-medical) within the delivery of clinical sessions., The main remit of this post is to provide specialist Consultant leadership, expertise and support to the paediatric ophthalmology services provided at King's College Hospital. The post holder will develop and provide comprehensive cover for this service. This includes a commitment to developing community based paediatric ophthalmology services, with involvement in training and supervision.

The post holder will contribute to the strategic development of the paediatric ophthalmology service across all King's sites in collaboration with the other King's paediatric ophthalmology specialists and there are regular meetings of a cross-site subspecialty paediatric ophthalmology group to facilitate this.

The proposed job plan is attached. There will be an average of 8.5 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with the remainder being allocated for Supporting Professional and/or other Activities. The On-Call commitment is classed as Category B.

£105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum excl. London Zone Allowance.
