Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon | Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust

This is a full-time post (10 PAs), with on call commitments. The post-holder will agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director once in post, but the job plan will involve elective theatre, outpatient sessions and multidisciplinary team meetings.Theappointeewill be given full support in the form of joint Consultant operating for complex cases, as well as with service development projects, quality improvement projects and appraisal.The successful candidate will be expected to fully contribute to the administrative, governance, teaching and research activities within the department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking surgeon to join the Specialist Hip & Knee Unit. The successful candidate will have a particular focus on knee surgery, including soft tissue knee surgery, patellofemoral instability, knee preservation surgery and knee arthroplasty. The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital was founded in 1907 with the amalgamation of London's three specialist orthopaedic hospitals into one single centre of excellence.Wecan therefore trace our history back to 1838 when the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital was founded. The Specialist Hip & Knee Unit undertakes all aspects of hip and knee surgery. The Unit regularly receives nationwide referrals for complex problems, including complex primary and revision arthroplasty. It is a national leader on many aspects of hip and knee surgery with unparalleled experience in revision arthroplasty, massive endoprostheses, custom implants, cartilage regeneration, and has helped produce national guidelines on metal-on-metal hip replacements and prosthetic joint infection. There is a close attachment with the Institute of Orthopaedics, University College London.
