Full Job Description

You will provide senior leadership and supervise the diagnostic process and treatment of children and young people up to the age of 16 with leukaemia and those undergoing stem cell transplant. There are additional laboratory reporting and liaison haematology responsibilities as well as out of hours cover for non-malignant Haematology and Oncology.

You will work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in our dedicated haematology and oncology outpatient clinic and co-located inpatient ward, both of which have been extensively refurbished within the last few years. You will contribute to the consultant of the week rota (1:3) as well as outpatient clinics for both on and off treatment patients.

On-call responsibilities include cover for patients with cancer, malignant haematology, bone marrow transplantation and some non-malignant haematology (predominantly sickle cell disease) on a 1:8 basis. There is a second on call rota (1:6) covering most of the non-malignant haematology including coagulation.

Applicants should possess or be within 6 months of receiving CCT in Haematology. Overseas applicants will need to demonstrate equivalent training.
