Full Job Description

The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all patients attending the hospital and within the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in developing the department and wider services for the future.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

  • MRCP or Equivalent Specialist qualification

  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)

  • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)


  • Desirable
  • Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)

  • A higher degree (MD, PhD), Higher specialist training in Speciality Interest and G(I)Medicine or Acute Medicine

  • Broad experience in Speciality and G(I)M/Acute Medicine

  • Current ALS certificate

  • Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme

  • Experience in SDEC and/or ambulatory care


  • Knowledge
    Essential
  • G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post

  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients

  • Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to lifelong learning

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Experience of supervising medical staff

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs nurses and other agencies
