Full Job Description

A General Medical Consultant is required for Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust., Prerequisite:

  • Must be entered onto the GMC register.
  • Must possess MRCP or equivalent.
  • Must be on the Specialist Register in General Medicine or within 6 months of CCT in General Medicine.
  • Key Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Care of inpatients
  • Administrative duties related to patient care.
  • Regular participation in speciality and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Regular participation in quality improvement, audit and research.
  • Provision of cover for consultant colleagues' periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy.
  • Weekend and bank holiday on-call commitments for general medicine
  • Support of the speciality and wider hospital in emergencies
  • Indicative job plan:
  • The post is 10 programmed activities, but working less than full time can be accommodated. The job plan will be tailored to a candidate's specialist interest, with opportunities available across acute and community settings.
  • A detailed job plan will be agreed with the post holder on appointment.

The Medical Division provides a comprehensive service for General Medicine, Emergency/Acute Medicine, Elderly Care, Stroke, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes & Endocrinology and front door OPAL services.
