Full Job Description

We wish to appoint a new consultant colleague in Orthogeriatrics to join our expanding Hip Fracture and Elderly Trauma Services in Gloucestershire.

Successful applicants will work on our dedicated Hip Fracture Unit (ward 3A) at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital as well as providing liaison advice and support to Elderly Trauma patients on the other Trauma wards within the trust.

Although the main bulk of work is in Orthogeriatrics we would encourage the post-holder to undertake another specialty interest session for 1-2PAs within their weekly timetable. Most of our Care of the Elderly consultant posts also include sessions working within our increasingly successful Frailty Assessment Service which encompasses a Direct Assessment Pathway, Frailty Assessment Unit, Frailty SDEC and a Virtual Ward.

The post also incorporates a fixed weekend Care of the Elderly post take ward round, which includes new hip fracture admissions and the Frailty Assessment Service (FAS) on a 1 in 10 basis (but no on-call).

This is a substantive post working within in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest Foundation Trusts in England. Whilst advertised as a full-time post, we will accept part time or flexible working requests for the right candidate and aim to have one day working from home to support wellbeing.
