Full Job Description

We want to deliver a responsible and sustainable energy future, supporting our clients through the energy transition and meeting net zero targets. Xodus is already delivering projects that are helping to decarbonise the traditional oil & gas sector, as well as working on low carbon energies sources such as hydrogen. This range of work represents new and exciting challenges for Process & Facilities Engineers to apply their skills. We are, primarily, problem-solvers - applying ourselves to our clients' challenges and their requests for help. Complementing our decades of engineering consultancy experience in the traditional oil and gas sector, we relish the new opportunities brought by the transformation of the energy market, providing interesting and meaningful work in the years ahead. Process Engineers in Xodus will be at the forefront of these changes in the energy industry, fundamental to the delivery of sustainable emission reduction projects, through electrification, CCUS, Hydrogen and more. However, in many ways, we are also already contributing to this effort in using our current capabilities to minimise the impact of existing plants, equipment and traditional technologies through efficiency optimisation. We are also supporting the development of lower carbon intensity energy sources, allowing solid fuels to be backed out through a 'Pivot to Gas' approach. Emission reduction measures require process engineers to optimise and challenge existing operating practices to reduce flaring and energy requirements. In turn, our process engineers help drive digital solutions and plant modifications to support our clients globally on their sustainable pathway to net zero. Purpose of the Role Xodus is seeking highly motivated, talented and client-focused process engineers with first-hand practical design and operational knowledge to join our team in assisting our clients with the scoping, development and execution of their bold, new, energy projects. Requirements Do you have some of the following? The role demands a dynamic and enthusiastic Process Consultant with experience of acting as Lead Process engineer, and even managing front-end or multi-discipline projects, who also possesses an active interest in assisting clients and the wider energy industry through the transition to Net Zero. In response, they can expect to support assignments across much of the energy spectrum, working with a range of teams all across Xodus, including members from our subsea, decommissioning, renewables, environmental, and advisory divisions. The successful candidate will join our Process & Facilities team, who are experienced in using engineering knowledge and judgement to find and implement first class, proactive solutions for our clients, under the direction of the Division Manager. They should have demonstrable experience of playing key roles within both process and multidiscipline team studies, in accordance with widely recognised industry standards, best practices and technologies. The optimal candidate will be both a team player and future leader, capable of interfacing at all levels and disciplines, producing well-written and technically accurate study reports, and communicating complex Engineering concepts in a straightforward manner to a wide variety of junior engineers, peers, project managers, and clients alike, thereby demonstrating an ability to summarize key parameters and drivers succinctly for all audiences In tandem, they should be enthusiastic about supporting, mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers, as well as acting as IChemE mentors to the same. The preferred candidate will be adept and comfortable with engaging and communicating with clients regularly, maintaining Xodus' standards and visions, and supporting Xodus' business development requirements. They should also display a flexible approach, being adaptable to varying assignments at short notice, as well as in multi-tasking to ensure delivery of concurrent assignments, as required. Innovative and creative thinking are part of the culture in Xodus, so all of our engineers and consultants are required to demonstrate their fundamental interest and proven track record in problem solving.

  • Chartered Engineer, Member of IChemE or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrable Chemical / Process engineering experience
  • Strong track record in conceptual, front-end or detailed engineering design studies
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of process design & process safety principals
  • Experienced in proposal & Cost-Time-Resource (CTR) preparation
  • Experience of working in & leading / supervising both single discipline and multi-discipline project teams
  • Experience in managing study execution and budgets
  • First class communication, report writing & presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to summarize key parameters and drivers succinctly
  • Experience in the following is not essential, but would be extremely beneficial:
  • Operating in a consultancy business
  • FEED and detailed design
  • Practical onsite / operational support experience
  • Application of emission reduction &/or optimisation measures
  • CCUS, biofuels, e-fuels, SAF or Hydrogen process design
  • Engineering support to development of digital solutions
