For International Medical Graduates we will supportyou to get Section 12 and Approved Clinician status and also in the longer termvia CESR we will support you to become substantive consultants on the GMCspecialist register. That being said we treat all of our consultants the sameand as far as we are concerned a consultant is a consultant whether they are onthe specialist register or not. For consultants there is the chance to pursue yourown interests, so if they lie in R&D, QI, or management & leadershipwell support you. In 2021 Berkshire Healthcare was 4th out of the48 community and mental health trusts for the number of research projects werecruited to. We have refreshed our research strategy and are looking forenthusiastic colleagues to develop and implement the Trusts researchprogramme. QI the Trust is very active in terms of qualityimprovement. Including the opportunity to gain fully accredited QIqualifications., We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join us as we develop a CAMHS Learning Disabilities service for Berkshire., Please see the attached Consultant jobdescription together with the person specification for this role.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
  • Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.

  • Experience in management of children and young people with complex needs spanning multiple agencies, with mental health and learning disability problems alongside behavioural issues.

  • CAMH services sit within an integrated directorate that brings together all our Universal, Specialist Physical and Mental Health and Neurodiversity services for Children, Young People and Families (CYPF). Our services for adults with a learning disability are also part of this directorate and adult Neurodiversity Services are joining us from 2023. We work closely together across the directorate, integrating services to enable improved care to children, young people and families where it makes sense to do so. Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS runs a clinicalcare pathway model delivering evidence-based treatment for anxiety & mooddisorders, trauma, mania and psychosis and eating disorders. Crisis and risksupport is provided by the CAMHS Rapid Response Team and the service run a Tier4 alternative to admission unit that provides intensive day care and hometreatment as part of the Thames Valley Provider Collaborative. We are an innovative and forward-thinkingservice. Other new developments currently underway include a new service forChildren in Care, a key working service for children with learning disabilitiesand / or autism and a vanguard pilot as part of the framework for integrated care. All CAMH and Neurodiversity servicescurrently operate from two integrated hubs for Children, Young People andFamily Service Erlegh House in Reading and Fir Tree House in Slough, withlocality bases in Newbury, Wokingham, Bracknell, and Maidenhead. The service works closely withmultiagency partners across East(Slough, Bracknell and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) and WestBerkshire (Wokingham, Reading and Newbury) and is co-located with theCommunity Paediatric Services for East and West Berkshire.
