Full Job Description

The CAMHS directorate in North Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV is comprised of the two York Community CAMHS teams based at Lime Trees, the Selby team based at Selby Cabin, the Harrogate Team based at Dragon Parade, the Scarborough Team based at Lake House and the Northallerton Team based at North Moor House with a peripheral clinic in Colburn.

This post will provide input into Northallerton part of the North Yorkshire and York service. Specifically, this service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership .

It has a Single Point of Access service staffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide a telephone consultation service to families and referrers. The SPA responds to all referrals and help young people and their families with the process of navigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs. The service works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people and their families in achieving good mental health and well-being. Staff job plans are designed to deliver services described in the TEWV Clinical Pathways, in order to provide high quality evidence-based care.

This post arises from a consultant moving to another post within the locality., The post holder will, with their consultant colleague, see all presentations, requiring the input of a psychiatrist arising from the secondary schools and their feeder primary schools within the Northallerton sector. The consultant would expect to hold a caseload of around 85 based on current consultant caseload and would be asked to see approximately 1 new assessment per week. The service supports a model whereby all cases are co worked with other members of the MDT, care coordinator and lead professional role usually held by a non-psychiatrist, except where there is a formal mutual agreement that sole consultant input is required with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

The Consultant joining the team will be expected to work in accordance with GMC guidance for working in multiagency and multidisciplinary teams. The Consultant will be expected to work flexibly.

The post will follow a 7.5 PA (Direct Clinical Care): 2.5 PA (Supporting Professional Activities) job plan. This will allow the post holder to develop a protected day each week to pursue additional interests such as research, medical education or leadership opportunities.

We are Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. We provide mental health and learning disability services to people of all ages.

We deliver a range of community and in-patient care across adult mental health, children and young peoples services, mental health services for older people and forensic services. We have over 7,000 staff working across more than 90 sites.

With an annual operating income of over £420 million, we work in partnership with local authorities, clinical commissioning groups, voluntary organisations, the private sector, as well as people who use our services, their families and carers.

Geographically were one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the country, spanning County Durham and Darlington, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.

Psychiatrists are essential contributors to the majority of our mental health teams. Service users expect and are justified to expect collaborative relationships with dedicated psychiatrists who work consistently as part of effective services. Our medical staffing shortage puts strain on services and puts strain on workforce wellbeing and costs extend beyond the financial.

The Medical Directorate and Medical Development Team are striving to improve medical workforce recruitment and retention in a variety of ways and the cornerstone of these efforts is The TEWV Charter for the Medical Workforce. (Please see attached Supporting Document).
