2. Provisionofcomprehensivepsychiatriccaretopatientsthroughevaluation,diagnosisanduseofappropriatetreatmentplans/strategies,advisingandsupportingacutehospitalstaffasneeded.

3. AvailabilitytoactasSection12(2)approveddoctorforthepurposeofMentalHealthAct Assessments. Where appropriate perform RC duties for patients.

4. Makingdecisions(withotherteammembersandwithsupervisionfromtheConsultant)regardingreferralstothecrisisservice,admissionstomentalhealthhospital(gatekeeping,dischargesfromhospitaltothecrisisserviceandtreatmentofpatientsinaccordancewithmedicalstandardsandlocalguidelines).

5. Ensuringtheinvolvementoffamiliesandcareer,whereverpossible,withthepatient'sconsentintreatmentplanning.

6. Facilitatingdischarge, careplanningandgoodcommunicationwithfamiliesforpatientsinacutewardsaswellasenablingbetterandmoreeffectivecareofthosewho areinacutehospitalbeds,

7. Toliaisewithotheragencies,asmaybeappropriate,especiallywithregardtocontinuityofpatientcare.

8. Inconjunctionwiththeconsultantsandteammanagerstoidentifyandadvocateforneededresourcesincludingstaffasnecessary.

9. Tokeepexcellentclinicalrecordsincludingexcellentrelevantqualityandotherdata.

10. Takingpartinadministrative/managementdutieswithinthedirectorateandtheTrustasawhole.

11. Participatinginclinicalgovernance,clinicalauditandothercommitteesasmaybenecessary.

12. TocomplywiththeTrust'sagreedpoliciesandproceduresandalwayspracticeinlinewiththeRoyalCollegeofPsychiatrists"GoodPsychiatricPractice"andGeneralMedicalCouncil's"GoodMedicalPractice".

ThisisasubstantivepostwithintheLiaisonservice across 2 sites. YouwillworkalongsideanexistingconsultantsinOlderPeople'smentalhealthwhoprovidesessionalsupport;andaliaisonteamprovidingclinicalassessmentandmanagementofpatientswithmentalhealthproblemsatthePRUHHospitalinFarnborough and QEH in Woolwich.

The MHLT service for QEH is different from PRUH. QEH has a separate working age and adult teams while PRUH has combined OA & WA which means a consultant can cover both especially based on the demands.

The Job plan is 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA with job planning details agreed following discussions with the Clinical Director and ACD.

The consultant will providedaytodayassessmentandmanagementofworkingageandolderadultpatientsreferredtoPRU liaisonserviceduringworkinghours.
