Full Job Description
There is a vacancy for a full time Consultant post to join Liaison Psychiatry in the North Tees team offering working age Liaison Psychiatry services to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The vacancy is as a result of the retirement of the current post holder. There is also a part-time Older Persons Consultant Psychiatrist in the North Tees Team, and Adult and Older Persons Consultant Psychiatrists in the South Tees Team. There are currently 10 Adult Consultant Psychiatrists covering all aspects of Mental Health in the Stockton and Hartlepool area, Recent investment has resulted in the Tees Liaison Psychiatry service extending to provide age appropriate assessment and short term interventions spanning the age range from 18 and over, across 24 hours. The service consists of two teams, one based in the South of Tees and one based in the North of Tees offering services to the two Acute Trusts within Teesside South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The model has been fully operational since April 2013. It has provided a unique opportunity to improve services and reduce cost across the health economy of Teesside. Commissioning arrangements are through two CCGs: Hartlepool and Stockton CCG and South Tees CCG Tees Liaison Psychiatry is supported by AMH Services and Mental Health Services for Older People in 4 localities Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland. Each locality has Intensive Home Treatment and Crisis Services, functionally split Affective and Psychoses (with embedded Assertive Outreach) Community Teams, a Primary Care Team, a EIP service with close links to the Community Psychosis Teams, an older persons Community Mental Health Team, Memory Services and Intensive Community Service. In-Patient Services for Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar and Cleveland are based at Roseberry Park Hospital, Middlesbrough a new purpose built hospital opened in 2010, and for Hartlepool are based at Sandwell Park, Hartlepool.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- Experience
- MRCPsych, Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry OR included within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment Desirable
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
