Full Job Description

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, on a permanent contract, who will be responsible for treating children and adolescents up to the age of 18 at the Parkview clinic.

This service is part of a larger in-patient service, which also includes a General Adolescent unit, Specialist Eating Disorder Unit and as assessment unit., The post holder will provide senior specialist psychiatric input and medical leadership within an established multidisciplinary in-patient team and have a central role in delivering psychiatric assessment and treatment for in-patients and their families, as well as contributing to providing psychiatric & medical risk management.

The consultant psychiatrist will support the in-patient team, medical lead and other professional leads with quality improvement & clinical governance activities.

The post holder will also have a close working relationship with other consultant psychiatrists and medical colleagues based at the Parkview clinic.

They will offer specialist consultation and peer supervision to medical and non-medical colleagues within the clinical team including the supervision of junior doctors.

On a more strategic level, they will relate to the leadership and management structures of the Tier 4 and Mental Health Services.

From an overall professional perspective, they will support the Medical Lead, Medical Director for FTB and MH services and Chief Medical Officer of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC). In turn all are ultimately responsible within the Trust to the Chief Executive Officer
