Full Job Description
The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Trafford South CMHT.
The post holder will be expected to lead the clinical team, provide clinical input and contribute to service development activities.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be working within the South Community Mental Health Team mainly based at Brookheys, which is in Broadheath, near Altrincham., + Clinical role
o Undertake assessments of referrals/admissions to the service.
o Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
o Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations.
o Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
o Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
o Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
o Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.
o Provide cross-cover for Central CMHT consultant on non-working days, consisting of urgent Mental Health Act and CTO issues.
Leadership role
o Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
o Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.
o Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at consultant meetings for their service and directorate.
Educational role
o Provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience.
