Full Job Description
The work programme and job plan will be tailored upon appointment, with the flexibility to review and refine annually through job planning discussions. This is a full-time role, with a minimum of 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA), alongside Direct Clinical Care (DCC) activities. Additional PA (Programmed Activities) may be offered for distinct roles or NHS responsibilities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Clinical Business Unit management team across UHN to ensure efficient service delivery, incorporating best practice processes and governance. The job plan will be reviewed regularly, and any adjustments will be made through mutual agreement. On-call commitment is included in the weekly timetable, with a rota of 1 in 14, which covers one weekday evening shift (5pm-8pm) and split weekends (10am-4pm). Currently, 1 PA is allocated for on-call duties. Remote working is supported within the Trust and EMRAD consortium, with remote workstations available
(subject to availability). There are also numerous leadership opportunities, including roles as modality leads, specialty leads, audit and clinical governance leads, and teaching/training leads. As part of the role, you will: Provide cover for consultant colleagues during periods of annual leave (if applicable). Participate in weekly MDTs and departmental meetings, and offer cover at specialist MDTs as needed. Provide timely, effective advice to General Practitioners and Hospital Doctors, including appropriate vetting during Duty sessions. Teaching and training are central to this role. All Consultants are expected to contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees. You will supervise clinical students during your clinical duties and provide clinical supervision to postgraduate trainees. Consultants may also take on additional responsibilities in undergraduate or postgraduate education, including lecturing, seminar teaching, and acting as
clinical or educational supervisors. Strong participation in general training, audit activities, and the teaching of medical students and radiographers is expected. As the department grows in research capabilities, opportunities to contribute to clinical research have increased since the Trust gained university hospital status.
