Full Job Description

This role will incorporate fully job planned clinical oversight of our large, busy infusion unit. The post holder will coordinate the department's medical oversight of the service working as part of an MDT comprising senior nurse specialists, prescribing pharmacist and administrative support. The post holder will oversee training / mentoring of the DCU nursing team, middle grade doctors and MDT members to ensure the safety and quality of the service provided.

In addition, this post will include responsibility long term follow up of a small cohort of patients with connective tissue disorders previously under the care of a consultant now retiring. The post includes contribution to the low frequency rheumatology on-call service for speciality referrals only and management of a small number of in patients.

This is a 7PA innovative post created to support our expanding Connective Tissue Disease Service to deliver local and regional specialised commissioned services. The successful applicant will have a higher degree in a relevant research area, have an outstanding record in delivering tertiary level care and have sufficient experience in supporting phase 2, 3 and 4 clinical trials to allow you take a lead role in expanding the departments clinical research activity in connective tissue disorders. We are keen to support applicants who wish to develop a research interest, now or in the future, capitalising on our excellent links with the Musculoskeletal Research Group at Newcastle University and associated research groups working in the field at Newcastle University.
