Full Job Description

You will work as part of a team of industry specialists providing consulting services to major Defence & Security clients, quickly building upon your existing industry knowledge to become an expert in your field. Using our deep sector and technical expertise we transform our clients' core business and operations, helping them prepare for growth, adapt to budgetary constraints, embrace the digital agenda and maximize operational efficiency. We are the people in our client's programmes who drive step-change in the speed and quality of delivery. You will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility early on in your career and develop your skills in managing projects and budgets. In addition, this role will allow you to be creative in developing client solutions. We focus on the full life cycle of operations transformation: from operating model design; through to operations transformation, including process re-engineering and operational performance improvement. To support our work, we are interested in candidates with experience of the following:

  • Operating Model Design - understanding the as-is and to-be for the organization, in order to create the optimal business architecture for successful strategy realization in a digital age.
  • Service Design - putting people at the heart of the services we design, ensuring that our solutions deliver the best experiences and the maximum value to users, customers and staff.
  • As well as being interested in candidates who have experience of the above within a general business environment, we are also specifically interested in candidates that have used these skills in a cloud/digital transformation or data analytics context.
  • As Consultant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Helping clients solve complex issues by performing analysis, providing recommendations and utilising a combination of experience, industry knowledge, tools and technology
  • Working with a range of stakeholders both internally within Deloitte and in client organisations
  • Taking responsibility for the delivery of packages of work to adequate time and quality considerations
  • Managing a small number of junior team members (c.1-3)
  • Identifying and escalating risks and issues
  • Contributing to business development and practice management activity, in conjunction with more senior team members
  • Contributing to internal practice development by participating in proposition, methodology and point of view development and supporting knowledge capture and sharing

    Experience of designing and delivering operating model, service design and/or digital transformation solutions in the UK Public Sector using both traditional waterfall and agile delivery approaches where appropriate
  • Previous experience within a Consulting firm in a client facing role
  • An understanding of the major issues faced in the Defence & Security sector and an interest in innovative solutions and strategies being undertaken by governments
  • An understanding of the current drivers shaping the business environment: digital, automation, robotics, advanced analytics
  • Strong project management disciplines, including production of detailed project plans and working and delivering to strict time constraints
  • A passion for making a difference to society through a balance of logical hands-on problem-solving skills and cutting-edge thinking
  • Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous and rapidly changing circumstances
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organisation
  • Have a proven record of building strong relationships with others to reach successful outcomes
  • Desirable:
  • Experience working in or with the Ministry of Defence, law enforcement and/or other parts of secure government
  • Experience advising clients on the adoption of disruptive digital technologies
