Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a GI Consultant to join the team who has an interest in Benign UGI and Bariatric Surgery who is keen to lead on developing the service for the future

The successful applicants will provide UGI and general surgical services in a theatre, outpatient, and ward setting.

Minimally invasive surgery is well established within the surgical service, including Robotic assisted colorectal surgery. There is an opportunity to develop this within the UGI field subject to the necessary training.

There are separate specialty rotas for seven-day services, and it is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to both the general surgery emergency rota (1 in 12) and the UGI weekend rota,

The Trust has two sites for out-patient and elective surgical activity at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital. As part of the team, you will be expected to participate in delivering services on both sites.

We are one of the largest acute and community providers in the west Midlands having more than 850 beds on the New Cross Hospital site. The Trust also has 56 rehabilitation beds at West Park Hospital and 54 beds at Cannock Chase Hospital

You will join a general surgical department which includes Upper-GI, Colorectal, Breast and Vascular Services. The Upper GI Surgical Team has four Consultants., There will be opportunities to engage with research, audit, governance, and education in the UGI unit and on a wider surgical service.

The successful applicant should possess fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR at the time of interview
