Applications are invited for this replacement post, in Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. This post will be based at Leigh Infirmary and will include participation in a 1 in 12 on call rota shared with a neighbouring trust. The successful applicant will join five other Consultants, 4 middle Grades (including 2 SpRs) and 6 WTE specialist nurses. The post-holder will help the department continue to achieve a consultant delivered service and to meet all the separate elements of the government targets., Applicants should have comprehensive experience and training in Urology. They must also be on the Specialist Register or expect to achieve their CCT within 6 months of the interview date. They should be competent in all aspects of core urology. The new appointee should be able to willing and able to develop an interest to complement the needs of the department.

The urology department has an integrated urology unit at Leigh infirmary for all urological out patient investigations and the majority of clinics, including those undertaken by clinical nurse specialists. It includes out-patient clinic space, 3 treatment / procedure rooms, (each with dedicated patient changing) and accommodation for consultant offices and all the departmental administrative support.

The post will involve planned sessional work at Leigh Infirmary, Thomas Linacre outpatients centre and Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.
