Full Job Description

At Sage, content designers play a critical role in delivering an outstanding end-to-end user experience. They are passionate about creating clear, compelling content in our software that provides customers with the information they need, when they need it, and in a format they expect. Our content designers are part of multidisciplinary, Agile product teams, working closely with UX designers, product managers, solution designers, engineering and quality assurance, as well as other teams such as customer support and learning services. We are looking for a Content Designer to create, update and review content across 1-2 products in our Small Business segment. This is a hybrid role - three days per week in our Newcastle office. In this role, you will:

  • Create accessible, high-quality, accurate in-app microcopy for 1-2 products.
  • Design content that is clear and simple, focused on success and positive user outcomes for all levels of expertise from first-time users to experts.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to create prototypes and design user interfaces for releases.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to understand business requirements and to share content design strategies.
  • Work with and support user researchers, analysing and iterating content based on data and usability findings.
  • Participate in quality assurance procedures to ensure content is accurate and effective before products or features are released.
  • Write with an understanding of localisation and translation, collaborating with translators on user-facing content.
  • Adhere and contribute to the Sage Style Guide, content and design patterns, and the XD Content Design Community of Practice., The key responsibilities of this role will be to:
  • Use evidence and research from customers and subject matter experts to deliver accurate, accessible content across the end-to-end user journey that meets user needs and business objectives.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to understand, deliver, test and review features and products, sometimes to simultaneous deadlines.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to create journey maps, user flows and prototypes.
  • Design information architecture, navigation, and linking strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of content strategy, templates, processes and content patterns, as needed.
  • Measure content effectiveness and iterate based on data.
  • Support user research activities and propose and implement content design updates, as needed.
  • Collaborate with translators on user-facing content, as needed.
  • Engage with, and contribute to, the XD Content Design Community of Practice.

    Strong understanding of user-centered design.
  • Experience in writing, editing and publishing digital content.
  • Good knowledge of industry-standard practices and tools for digital content and UX writing.
  • Laser-focus on the customer experience.
  • Experience of using evidence, data and research to make content decisions across the end-to-end user journey.
  • Passionate about creating accessible, high-quality microcopy.
  • Experience of using style guides and tone of voice guides to deliver content.
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, including tools such as Jira.
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills that foster good relationships with team members and others within the wider organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills. Ability to work on 1-2 projects in tandem, and independently handle change and unknowns.
  • Seeks out personal development activities with initiative.
  • Experience of using design systems and patterns is desirable.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma and Miro is desirable.
  • An understanding of localisation and translation, and experience of collaborating with translators is desirable
