Contentious Probate Solicitor / FCILEx

We are seeking a technically able and commercially aware Solicitor / FCILEx to manage our Contentious Probate work as part of Contract Resolution Group, included within Lyons Davidson's Civil Litigation Division. The caseload would be made up of complex and high value Claimant and Defendant Contentious Probate matters. The work sources include LEI and private instruction. The work is varied and challenging but rewarding and the team places a high value on mutual support and co-operation., Reporting to the partner in charge of the Contract Resolution Group the primary focus of the role is twofold :

• Management of a personal caseload of between 35 and 50 varied, complex and often high value cases, including responsibility for day-to-day client relationships; and
• Proactive management and supervision of a small number of junior casehandlers.
  
  Intellectual curiosity, commerciality and practicality;
• Ability to deal flexibly with a wide range business partners and clients;
• Ability to take full responsibility for cases and strategy (subject to supervisory and group support);
• Experience of running contentious probate cases including a good mix of acting for defendants and claimants;
• Experience of dealing with costs matters both pre-costs proceedings and through detailed assessment;
• Collaborative approach to supervision and development of team.
Desirable :
• Experience of dealing with insurance funded clients;
• Experience in business development.
Education required : Candidates will need to be a fully qualified solicitor, Barrister or CILEX or have equivalent experience.
