Full Job Description

The Sefton Paediatric Continence service is expanding. The service is looking to recruit a continence Nursery Nurse. The post holder is responsible for providing support to the continence team in the management of children and families, including administrative duties, assessment, and review of continence issues and to provide support and education to children, young people, families and professional involved. The post holder will provide toilet training to children and families open to the service and carry out assessment or reassessments of children who may need continence products. The post holder will lead on the management of these product reviews. The post holder will manage and prioritise their own workload as delegated by the Team Leader or Matron. They will accept delegated assessment responsibility to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of the children, young people and their families. They will work from a range of settings including, community clinics, patient homes and
schools to provide them with the necessary information and advice, following clinical guidance and national recommendations. The post holder will be expected to work under remote supervision.

Main duties of the job

To support a caseload of children under the supervision of the band 7 and 6 nurses.

To assess, plan and provide support to children, young people and carers in toilet training and continence issues.

To provide assessments of continence needs in relation to continence products and order products for children and young people.

Use the agreed National Frameworks to ensure products remain relevant and safe for the children and young peoples needs and they are used appropriately.

To teach and demonstrate the correct use of products and other techniques to optimise the client's functional ability and independence.

Document consultations, observations and clinical interventions in the patient records and discuss with clinicians any concerns.

To work at clinical, educational and domiciliary sites across the Sefton area as required.
