Full Job Description
The Contract Manager will assist in the negotiation and thecommissioning of contracts for health care services from a range of providers. A portfolio of contracts will be allocated for which the post holderwill take responsibility. Candidates shouldbe able to demonstrate experience of contracting and contract management and tobe familiar with the requirements of and using the NHS Standard Contract. The role involves working in a multi-disciplinary team includingclinicians and close liaison with providers and with other associates. As suchthe role requires excellent inter-personal skills. The job description and personal specification may be reviewed on anongoing basis in accordance with the changing needs of the Department and theOrganisation.
- Significant experience in a commissioning or contract management environment within a Health & Social Care setting.
- Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment.
- Commissioning and / or contracting experience within secondary or tertiary care.
- Demonstrated experience co-ordinating projects in a complex and challenging environment.
- Good experience of using data and information to
- understand issues and to formulate recommendations and decisions.
- Experience of working across organisational boundaries.
- Robust understanding of the NHS Commissioning cycle and the acute contract management process.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project.
- Experience of using the NHS Standard Contract, Education to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
