Full Job Description
The Commercial team supports the business to optimise our relationships with partners, collaborators and customers whilst protecting Tokamak Energy's interests and securing the business's future success. As the Contracts and Commercial Manager you will play a crucial role in drafting and negotiating agreements across the breadth of business activities, which may range from securing funding opportunities to providing services to customers. Within this varied role, you will also help shape the company contracting strategy and procedures to enable efficient and consistent solutions to complex contracting scenarios. You will be closely involved with a number of projects from an early stage to facilitate understanding of the primary business objectives and to help to shape our third-party relationships through a commercial and contractual lens. You will aid in ensuing ongoing compliance with existing contracts by providing support to a variety of teams. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of Tokamak Energy and the wider clean energy sector.
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including MOUs, Collaboration Agreements, Sales Agreements, Purchasing Agreements, and Research Agreements
- Negotiate bespoke agreements for strategic opportunities.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the business, using this to efficiently and effectively negotiate contracts.
- Use knowledge of law to develop pragmatic and creative solutions balancing risk, resource, and delivery
- Engage stakeholders across the businesses at the appropriate level, building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple individuals and teams.
- Work with teams across the business to prioritize, set expectations and manage demand.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and ways of works relating to contracting.
- Assist in the evolution of our template contracts.
- Contribute to training on contracts both across the company and within the team
- Opportunities to take online management responsibilities based on performance and skills set
Relevant degree or qualification within legal discipline, or equivalent experience - Experience working with a number of teams across the business, with experience working closely with science, technology and engineering teams desirable.
- Ability to identify and manage internal stakeholders in complex contract negotiation.
- Demonstratable ability to identify and understand risks associated with projects and programmes, alongside factoring those risks into the contracting strategy.
- Detailed understand of contract law, with complementary knowledge in other fields
- Demonstratable experience in application of law to business scenarios and developing commercially focused solutions
- Experience negotiating across a diverse range of contracts
- Advanced skills in legal research and application of research to complex scenarios
- Excellent attention to detail and analysis skills
- Highly organised with extensive experience independently prioritising and driving delivery to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an agile setting
- Proactive attitude and a drive to excel
- Good understanding of, and experience with agreements with a heavy emphasis on intellectual property rights is desirable
- Experience in a rapidly evolving company or on pre-commercialisation projects is desirable
