Full Job Description

This is an exciting new role at the British Museum, where the postholder will work in a team of two, ensuring that working activities are safely, planned, controlled and coordinated. Undertaking assurance checks onsite to ensure that works onsite are compliant with CDM procedures, there is some requirement to work weekends and evenings, based on project demands in this role. As the British Museum carries out the Masterplan, this role is key to ensuring its success.

Key areas of responsibility:
Undertake daily monitoring of contractor working and project management processes on site, undertaking spot checks and safety audits.
Conduct daily assurance checks in relation to the permit to work and control of works processes.
Escalate issues or non-adherence of procedures to the relevant stakeholders
Promote safe working practices across the Museum's Bloomsbury estate and Orsman road sites
Support the induction of contractors to the site where required

Monitoring contractors working onsite, basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety and construction management procedures is key. Prior experience working in contractor coordination or construction would equip the postholder to successfully carry out the demands of the role, in addition to previous health and safety checks. Understanding how to audit or carry out spot checks is necessary.
This role will require excellent attention to detail, communication with a variety of stakeholders, and organizational skills. The postholder must be proficient in using MS Office programmes, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel.
