Full Job Description

The Controls Engineer is responsible for electrical controls diagnosis and repair of equipment and development of controls strategy across the building management system. In this role you will be responsible for complying with regulatory requirements, maintaining, fault finding and diagnosing equipment. You will be required to work in sensitive areas upholding all GE standards whilst producing a high quality of work. You will support the team with controls related breakdowns across various equipment and play a pivotal role in developing our building management system. The role will be based on day shift - 37hrs per week,

  • Work to ensure electrical safety.
  • Oversee and support the design and build of electrical control panels, including documentation of all drawings and technical data consistent with current National Electrical Standards.
  • Diagnose and repair control panels
  • Assist with building and managing the sitewide Trend BMS system
  • Use panel-building skills to implement solutions.
  • Tune inverter set-ups to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Proactively upgrade equipment and plan for downtime across sites.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is always maintained
  • Install, fault-find and repair electrical infrastructure and equipment
  • Work within the maintenance & facilities team to manage sitewide systems and procedures including fire alarm testing & emergency response.
  • Proactive communication with customers and stakeholders via meetings and Maximo.
  • Work on Thermotron/Sharetree environmental chambers, G&W/LDS vibration systems, Laselec wire markers, ovens containing Eurotherm controllers and chart recorders among other specialist equipment.

    Electrical installation apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18TH Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment/facility
  • Familiar with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Electrical Safety experience
  • Various training and support will be provided so a desire for personal continuous improvement is required, Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Good knowledge of PLC systems within an industrial environment.
  • Experience with Machinery Safety Legislation including PUWER.
  • Confined space trained.
  • HV Substation Awareness training.
  • IPAF
  • Strong computer skills
  • Electrical Authorised Person trained.
  • Optical Fibre/Data testing and installation.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo CMMS
  • 2391 Electrical Test and Inspection.
  • First Aid
