Full Job Description
We are looking for a Controls and Maintenance Engineer for the Technical Support department at Sartorius in Havant. In this role, you will be responsible for technical support for service and internal customers, maintain chromatography systems, diagnose complex technical issues, electrical fault finding with support from the field engineering team. The team consists of 5 professionals, and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. Our site in Havant undertakes full project lifecycle activities from quotation, through project management, product design, procurement, assembly, and testing of leading electro - mechanical chromatography equipment (process skids and columns) for the biotech and biopharmaceutical industry. This position is full - time and based at our Havant site with hybrid working available. There is a requirement for international travel up to 20%. Grow with us - Your Responsibilities
- On a daily basis you will be responsible for providing repair and maintenance support, diagnose complex technical issues, configure systems, electrical fault finding on systems both in the factory and at customer sites with support from the Field Engineering team
- You will support projects pre - FAT, FAT, installation and SAT
- You will assist customers on using systems, troubleshooting directly with the customer either remotely or on site
- You will be liaising with software houses, R&D, engineering, application teams to gain information to help resolve technical problems related to systems
- Training people 1 to 1 on the systems either on customers site or in the factory at the Havant site
- You will provide problem description on hardware and automation including root cause analysis (Siemens industrial software configured by SSB, developed with S7 and WINCC)
- You will implement the software bench test together with the Process Application department
- Installing the industrial software on the target hardware and support the QA department in commissioning and qualification at FAT
- Documentation of hardware and software errors during commissioning
- You will organise software back-ups and updates
- Travelling to customer sites occasionally
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders
HNC/HND or ONC in Instrumentation and Control Engineering (not compulsory) or Engineering Apprenticeship complete with supporting qualification and experience in instrumentation or controls engineering - Previous engineering experience within manufacturing/production environment in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry would be ideal though candidates from other industries i.e.: aerospace, food, medical, defense will also be considered
- Experience in electrical fault finding, diagnosing technical issues in relation to software would be useful
- Knowledge of automated systems, such as PLC, SCADA, SIEMENS S7/WINCCI, industrial network and field bus systems would be useful but not essential
- Knowledge of sensors and measurement amplifiers, PC's, software applications
- Experience in delivering service to customers and communicating effectively
- High accuracy when it comes to technical writing
- Being proactive and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
