Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a team that own the Converged Core daytime integration work within Networks, it is an extremely varied role which will allow you to work on several areas of the network, developing skills and capabilities to support your personal growth and the BT Network Goals. The team help build BT's biggest and fastest broadband network within Converged Core and Edge. You will liaise with field engineers on a daily basis as well as other key stakeholders. Being at the forefront of change - we are piloting innovative automation initiatives that will change the way we work as a team and unit. This role is based in our Birmingham city centre office where you will be part of a team of 15+ people, who are very friendly and supportive so expect to make new friends. Our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.What you'll be doing As an ICC-Converged Core Professional you will play a pivotal role in the management, optimisation and troubleshooting of our Converged Core Network systems. You will execute network change activities in line with process and change management best practices. With Serious About Service at the forefront of every decision. Strong stakeholder management skills are a must as daily interaction with engineers is a large part of this role. In addition:

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for Network configurations, procedures and troubleshooting guides
  • Address and resolve escalated technical issues in a timely manner
  • Be accountable for the delivery of requirements whilst managing stakeholders' expectations, scheduling work and communicating with stakeholders at all levels, most importantly carrying out live network implementations
  • You'll be working in a matrix environment - working with and exposure to other teams across Network and BT Group
  • You'll ensure all decision-making processes are compliant with legislation
  • You will need to be pro-active, quick to respond to the demands of the business and customer, being responsible and accountable for your actions and the impact it has on the business, network and customer
  • Seek continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities in order to automate, centralise, standardise and simplify processes, contributing to the delivery of improvement projects and initiatives.

    Ideally, you will have Telecoms and Networks technical background, with a passion for Lean/Continuous Improvement. However, if you have the right skillset and behaviour, we would be keen to see your application and we can offer training and development in some areas.
  • In addition, you will love a challenge and utilising your problem-solving skills ensuring issues are resolved to prevent a recurrence. MANDATORY
  • Demonstratable experience/knowledge in Nokia Service Router or Router Technologies
  • Good understanding of infrastructure, products, services and complex offerings.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Leadership Skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Adaptability to various work streams
  • Project Management qualification or demonstratable experience
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • DESIRABLE
  • Demonstratable experience of Converged Core scheduling and Integration
  • Experience of rigorous, complex testing and inspections to evaluate quality and performance. You discuss the results with your team
  • Knowledge of BTs 20 and 21 Century Network
  • Qualification or Experience in Continuous Improvement Methodologies
  • Qualification or Experience in Risk Management
  • Qualification or Experience in budget management
