Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant for an exciting opportunity with a highly regarded firm based in Derby. You will be responsible for assisting a Conveyancer to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency and you will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative and to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Opening files and accompanying procedures, to include production of confirmation of instruction letters, updating central records and the entering of entities and capacities on each new client/matter file
  • Ensuring client work is delivered to a consistently high standard and that client files are up to date and kept in a tidy state
  • Co-ordinating the exchange of contracts
  • Applying for searches on purchase transactions
  • Preparing Contract documentation for the clients to sign
  • Preparing the accounts packages and co-ordinating completions
  • Dealing with the post-completion work
  • Handling incoming calls from clients, estate agents and solicitors
  • Using initiative to progress files within the limits of his/her own ability.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Acting in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures of the company in respect of client confidentiality & data protection, money laundering and health & safety issue

    Having an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the progress of Conveyancing matters.
  • A minimum of 18-months experience in a law firm or within a similar environment.
  • A good level of education.
  • Competent typing ability.
  • Excellent IT Skills with working knowledge of all MS applications, especially Word.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
