Full Job Description

The Catering Department is looking to recruit a Cook on a permanent basis to work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during term time. The times of attendance will be either 7.30am until 2.00pm, 8.00am until 2.30pm or 8.30am until 3.00pm; preferred times of attendance can be discussed at interview.

The main duties will be to assist in the preparation, cooking and service of food throughout the foundation, using knowledge and experience to produce nutritious, economical and well-presented meals, whilst ensure a high level of hygiene is maintained in all areas of work. The successful candidates will be methodical and organised in their approach to work and have the ability to work unsupervised and calmly under pressure.

Due to the number of events held after school and at weekends, the successful candidates will also be expected to work 3 or 4 events, during a 6 month period, for either BSS Events or School events. It's also a requirement of the post, that should the role holder be required to, they will work School Open Day, Prizegiving and School Reunion Day, taking place annually.

With some 2,500 pupils, Bolton School is a large, thriving, academically selective day school. It is situated a mile or so from the town centre in a stunning 32 acre campus and is within easy reach of some of the nation's finest cities and countryside.

A large Foundation Services Department supports the School operations and within this there is a trading arm, Bolton School Services Limited (BSSL). This includes BSS Events, BSS Leisure Services, Kidzone and Patterdale Hall, a superb Outdoor Pursuits Centre situated at the Southern end of Lake Ullswater. Those who work within the organisation are able to combine the experience and pleasure of educating and being around young people with some of the challenges of a business environment.
