Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people with learning disabilities up and down the country. We currently have an opportunity for a Cook to join our team at our Rix House Care Home.

Rix House is a 20-bed residential care home; however, we currently only support 7 individuals. You will be responsible for cooking an assortment of dishes to suit a variety of dietary needs. As the cook you will be expected to be involved in the individuals we support with their meal choices. You will be jointly responsible for the ordering of stock, stock control and the managing a food budget.

Shift Pattern

The role is for 32.5 hours per week and will include working 11.30-6pm during the week and 9-3.30pm on a weekend over a 7-day period including bank holidays and weekends.

Role Responsibility

As a cook you will be responsible for:

· The preparation of beverages and preparing/serving of food to the individuals we support

· Following speech and language assessments and support plans when preparing food

· Ensuring that all kitchen areas are clean and tidy and that a robust cleaning schedule is followed in line with the Environmental Health and Local Authority standards

· Ensuring health and safety regulations are followed

· Cleanliness and replenishment of stock

· Working in a person-centred approach

· Ordering food and cleaning stock accurately and efficiently

· To ensure that all fridge, freezer and food temperature checks are completed.

The Ideal Candidate

· Have a good understanding of working within the food or catering industry

· Excellent communication skills, be able to budget

· Previous catering/food preparation experience in a similar role

· Excellent team working skills and be able to organise a kitchen.

· The ability to be adaptable and able to work within a challenging fast paced environment

· Have a level 2 in food preparation and food hygiene
