Full Job Description

  • Be the point of contact for the Marketing Department to work in conjunction with the Narrative Department to write, concept, and edit marketing materials such as trailers, scripts, promotional website copy, in-fiction brochures, community comms, website posts, etc., and assist in the development of CIG's intellectual properties.
  • Work with the marketing and video production departments to concept and generate scripts for trailers.
  • Coordinate with designers and artists to ensure that copy is not only within the lore of the game but also accurately reflects gameplay.
  • Represent the writing department and Cloud Imperium Games when interacting with the community. We are a forward-facing company, developing an exciting new universe in full view of the public.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games that are reasonably consistent with the employee's skills and experience.

    Substantial industry experience in copywriting, technical, or narrative writing.
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills.
  • Be a master of multiple styles: able to convey technical concepts clearly and have a strong, confident fictional storytelling base.
  • Be collaborative. We have a lot of internal iteration and sometimes last-minute requests, so being able to work with constructive criticism and incorporate notes into revisions quickly and effectively is paramount.
  • Be versatile and comfortable writing in a variety of formats (from screenplay format to prose) and in a variety of voices.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision while adhering to the creative vision of the game. While being able to complete tasks within given time constraints and maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
