Full Job Description
You will be responsible for the general running of the ward, supporting the Midwives, MCA/MSW, Receptionists, and Modern Housekeepers.
- Based on the Maternity Ward as a Band 6 core team Midwife in charge of the 61 bedded ward which cares for antenatal women, postnatal women, and women having an induction of labour
- Have an oversight of all the women and staff on the ward, and to work closely with other areas within the hospital in particular PAU and Labour Ward to maintain bed flow.
- Excellent communication skills to work alongside the MDT team, including the obstetricians, neonatologist, Anaesthetist, physiotherapist, and Audiology.
- Knowledge of the clinical guidelines and support the staff with any changes that effect current practice.
- Good knowledge of Safeguarding, and work closely with the safeguarding team to ensure safety of vulnerable women and babies.
- Maintain stock levels including medicines and have regular communication with Pharmacy.
- You will be expected to escalate any concerns when necessary to the appropriate manager/matron and/or Consultant.
