Full Job Description

We are seeking a Corporate Affairs Manager to join the External Affairs team in the Corporate Affairs Division. This is as a fixed-term contract opportunity running to mid-August 2025 and will be based in London.

This is a varied and pivotal role for an exceptional communicator, working closely with the Head of Corporate Engagement, to develop the BBC's engagement with stakeholders and opinion formers.. In a critical year for the BBC and reflecting the ambitions outlined in A BBC For The Future, the post holder will build a campaign of engagement around the planned large-scale public consultation and ensure that the BBC is reaching as many sectors and stakeholders as possible.

Main Responsibilities

As the Corporate Affairs Manager you will develop innovative communications strategies working across the full range of BBC content and corporate announcements, that seek to influence how key external stakeholders perceive the BBC. You will be advising senior executives on speaking opportunities and platforms, developing and executing communications plans whilst also providing guidance to the team, encouraging creativity across all mediums and bringing fresh-thinking to reach new sectors. You'll be attending and monitoring major industry events as well as manage the surveying of stakeholders by an external polling company to assess the impact of the BBC's corporate strategy.

You will also co-manage the production of the Annual Report and Accounts with the Head of Corporate Engagement, working with colleagues across the BBC to bring together our narrative review of the year and key metrics for submission to Parliament and scrutiny by the press.

In addition to overseeing tasks for the Communication Adviser within the Corporate Engagement team, you will also deputise for the Head of Corporate Engagement as required.

Crucially you will be full of creativity and brimming with ideas exploring and identifying innovative ways of communicating effectively and imaginatively with audiences. You will be a corporate communications expert who can establish a strong network of stakeholder contacts across the media sector and beyond. You will have a proven track record gained at a senior level in a professional communications and stakeholder field - including experience of crisis and issues management, and wider public relations skills (print, events, exhibitions, opinion former activity etc). A strong understanding of the media environment coupled with the ability to write and edit crisp, clear and lively copy is also essential. In addition, you will possess demonstrable interpersonal and stakeholder management experience to ensure consistent activity across other departments.

You will be able to confidently represent the corporation to a wide range of external individuals and organisations. Finally, you will also need to be able to demonstrate significant experience of delivering complex projects, working under pressure to meet demanding deadlines, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.

The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.
