Full Job Description

As a Corporate Analyst, you will work on one of two roles:
+ The Corporate Information Analyst will play a vital role in helping The National Archives to achieve its ambitions. You will bring your intelligence, curiosity and formidable analytic skills to bear on some of our biggest strategic challenges. Using your in-depth understanding of The National Archives’ management information assets, you will also play a consultative role, aiding colleagues at all levels to creatively interrogate information to better understand and improve the services the organisation provides.
+ The Corporate Performance Analyst will lead on the development of the Corporate Performance Framework for The National Archives and help embed an organisation-wide performance management culture. You will define and monitor key metrics, produce reports and offer insights that influence senior decision-making. You will support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation and play an expert role supporting colleagues at all levels to monitor and improve performance.
Both roles require a strong analytical skillset, excellent communication skills, and a strong people and partnership focus. You will be comfortable working with large and complex data sets, using a broad range of analytic approaches, and presenting complex information to non-technical audiences. You will also be keen to engage with colleagues across the organisation, and to contribute to the development of our data culture and maturity.
While experience is valuable in these roles, your skillset and the quality and flexibility of your thinking will matter more.
At The National Archives you’ll be working with some of the most knowledgeable, committed, and friendly people you’re ever likely to meet. You’ll gain valuable experience across all aspects of our remit – one of the most complex and varied in Government or the cultural and heritage sector. Most importantly, you’ll be helping The National Archives to be the best that it can be.
For the right candidate, this could be a career-shaping role. If that’s you, then please get in touch.
This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time., If a person with disabilities is put at a substantial disadvantage compared to a non-disabled person, we have a duty to make reasonable changes to our processes.
If you need a change to be made so that you can make your application, you should:
+ Contact The National Archives via careers@nationalarchives.gov.uk as soon as possible before the closing date to discuss your needs
+ Complete the “Assistance required” section in the “Additional requirements” page of your application form to tell us what changes or help you might need further on in the recruitment process. For instance, you may need wheelchair access at interview, or if you’re deaf, a Language Service Professional
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Could you help us shape the future of The National Archives?
We are looking for two talented and motivated individuals to help us transform the way we use evidence and data.
As the living, growing home of our national story, The National Archives is already a special place to work. The challenges and opportunities of recent years have demonstrated just what this exceptional group of people can achieve together. But there is so much more we want to do.
The National Archives’ strategic vision, Archives for Everyone, first set out the challenge of becoming the 21st Century national archive in 2019. Since then, the organisation has put the core principles into action, seeking to become more inclusive, entrepreneurial and disruptive – in short, a new kind of cultural and heritage institution.
In 2038, we will celebrate the bicentenary of the founding of the Public Record Office. As we recognise our institution’s long history, we are also looking to the future and are entering a period of profound transformation that will see us become:
+ A living digital national archive preserving the contemporary record of government and radically widening access to the historic archive
+ A national archive not just of government but of the state – preserving and making accessible the record of the executive, legislature and judiciary
+ A genuinely inclusive, collaborative and available national archive – an active, catalysing presence wherever we’re encountered
+ A demonstrably sustainable national archive, leading the archives sector both through our expertise and by example
This type of transformative work takes time, focus, effort and daring. The robust use of high-quality data will drive the critical decision-making required to realise our ambitions. That’s where you come in. Because we can’t do this without you.

Alongside your salary of £38,322, The National Archives contributes £11,101 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.
Generous benefits package, including pension, sports and social club facilities, onsite gym, discounted rates at our on-site cafe and opportunities for training and development.
Any move to The National Archives from another employer will mean you can no longer access childcare vouchers. This includes moves between government departments. You may however be eligible for other government schemes, including Tax-Free Childcare. Determine your eligibility at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
