Full Job Description

This is a great opportunity for someone that wants to continue to build on their existing career in communications and become the next Communications Executive for Travis Perkins plc.

Role Purpose

To support the Head of Corporate Communications and wider plc in building the company’s reputation internally and externally by providing first class communications services that are coordinated and efficient, and focused on helping to deliver on the Group’s corporate objectives based on our shared values.

This means providing support for the proactive development and management of engaging, and positive content to help keep people internally and externally well informed about our Group strategy and culture across multiple channels.

This is a hybrid based role with occasional travel 1-2 times per week to our Northampton Head Office. Occasional travel will be required to London and branches.

What you’ll do

This is a full- time role which will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain internal communications projects, such as:

- Research, write and develop media rich content (Stories, Blogs, Updates, Announcements) for our social media channels, plc website, internal group newsletter and intranet

- Advance our social media strategy and content plan

- Monitor media mentions, respond to queries and complaints, identify and escalate issues

- Manage press office enquiries, inside and outside of office hours

- Assist with crisis communications as and when required

- Ensure our plc website content is accurate, up to date, consistent and compliant

- Conduct regular reviews of our social media channels and plc website, utilising analytics to optimise, identify and implement ways to boost engagement

Are you someone from a communications background?

Can manage multiple tasks and complex projects?

Self motivated, confident, energetic and creative?, This is a busy role, so we’re looking for someone with initiative, energy and tenacity, who can react quickly whilst remaining calm under pressure. Of course, It goes without saying that you’ll have clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distil messages and tailor information for different audiences. You will also have experience of working and managing multiple projects to tight deadlines.

You also need to be confident and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. .
