Microsoft's CO+I team is seeking a Datacenter Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Cost management Change Lead to provide services for the EMEA region. The Cost Management Change Lead will be responsible for the consistent management and coordination all changes in construction projects at a portfolio level, ensuring that changes are documented, approved, and implemented effectively. This role requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. - Reports to the EPC Regional Cost Management Lead
- Provide on-the-ground commercial management support to all projects to ensure that Microsoft is financially and contractually protected.
- Management of commercial issues on all projects and reporting of these issues through the Project Controls & EPC head office in Redmond on a regular basis.
- Lead the Cost Trend Management (CTM) process for all projects in the metro by identifying, collating into the CTM log and accurately reporting any business driven scope changes, changes in market pricing and risk items that would result in a change to the project budgets.
- Ensure the EPC project team is aware of the estimate baseline in terms of scope, cost and execution assumptions.
- Ensure the cost reporting of new projects is correctly set-up for design kick-off - full build budget & CBS code breakdown are correct, and project and budget data is showing in CTM input tool and reporting.
- Risk Assessment: Factor in lead indicator and regional cost trends at portfolio level to assess the impact of changes on project timelines, budgets, and resources, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Chair bi-weekly CTM meetings with the EPC Project/Metro and Sub-Regional Teams, and other MS stakeholders as applicable. Identify actions and issue meeting minutes.
- Update the CTM log for change reason, change description, root cause and cost driver, $ impact and reason codes following bi-weekly CTM meetings. Move items in the CTM log through various stages of review to ensure project reporting accurately reflects the changes identified and acknowledged by the metro & sub-regional EPC team.
- Attend design kick-off and design progression reviews. Along with the project cost team, identify the cost deltas from concept through Schematic and 100% design.
- Collate any MS driven changes to the project charter from Stage Gate/RMR for input, review and sign-off in the Cost Trend Management log.
- Support the project Cost Team in estimating cost deltas and benchmarking to other projects / metros with the support of the Redmond Preconstruction Cost Manager.
- QA the Cost Trend Reports to ensure they aligns with the Cost Trend Logs. Schedule a bi-weekly review to present to the Sub-Regional Cost Lead for review and sign-off, allowing for reporting updates to go live in dashboards.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on change management activities and project status to senior management.
- Tooling: Manage all systems associated with the management of change and cost trends
- Provide quarterly feedback on Cost Tend Management process, tools and reason codes for continuous improvement.
Required/minimum qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field AND extensive related OR equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience working on data center projects.
