Full Job Description

Gallagher is seeking a 3-5 year PQE solicitor to work in its Legal Disputes team on a 13 month fixed term contract. The role is Regional with the opportunity to work from home and / or be based in one of Gallagher's regional offices.

Occasional travel to London is required. As part of our Legal Disputes team, you'll be working in a supportive and collegiate team to identify and advocate the legal and associated risks facing Gallagher.

Your expertise will guide our UK and EMEA insurance and reinsurance intermediation businesses, helping them make informed decisions that align with Gallagher's overall and divisional strategies.

We'll be looking for you to manage / conduct the defence and resolution of a broad and varied portfolio of disputes including Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims and circumstances, actively to encourage E&O avoidance, as well as dealing with ad hoc enquiries regarding actually or potentially contentious matters facing our businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity for a contentious lawyer looking to gain experience with one of the world's largest insurance brokerage firms.

How you'll make an impact Accurately capturing case information and maintaining our associated management information systems Effectively investigating, defending and resolving a broad portfolio of disputes involving Gallagher companies Working with our business to understand the facts, issues and risks Corresponding, meeting and negotiating with opposing parties and their legal representatives Acting on behalf of the business in disputes and representing them in court, if necessary Instructing and overseeing the effective use of outside counsel when appropriate Exercising proportionate and commercial judgement Delivering E&O Awareness presentations to our various insurance intermediation businesses Advising the business on legal issues concerning actual and potential disputes and other unusual situations Responding to proceedings commenced incorrectly naming Gallagher (instead of underwriters) Providing accurate and practical advice reflecting English law, but also guidance on matters

involving other legal systems Carry out your duties following Gallagher's and the Legal Team's policies and procedures in letter and in spirit acting at all times in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance and Gallagher's shared values About you You'll be a qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales Experience of professional indemnity disputes is essential Strong familiarity with English law and procedures is also essential Familiarity with insurance is desirable and a knowledge of FCA regulations is helpful You must be eligible to work in the UK About rewards and compensation On top of a competitive salary, great teams and exciting career opportunities, we also offer a wide range of benefits.
